| Bolzano, a true wine town |
![]()
Bolzano Bozen has been producing wine since pre-Roman times and South Tyrol’s capital remains a wine town like few others. Lush vineyards reach from the historic centre up into distinctly Alpine regions and yield and an amazing diversity of wine styles. Two red wines in particular are closely identified with Bolzano Bozen: the light and fruity S. Maddalena St. Magdalener and the dark, velvety Lagrein. As an old saying goes, “If Venice floats on water, then Bolzano Bozen floats on wine.” The delicious nectar matures in casks deep beneath the Bolzano Bozen’s many traditional wineries and numerous sights testify to the town’s wine tradition.
