The “Collecting for Tomorrow: new works at Bolzano” exhibition welcomes more than forty artists and sixty works of art (including installations, videos, photographs and sculptures) to the spacious rooms of the museum. A great exhibition programmed until 10th January 2016 at the Museion, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, taking place in the South Tyrolean capital. An opportunity to admire some of the most prestigious pieces which have become part of the Museion in the last seven years. Visitors will find renowned international artists such as Carl Andre, Isa Genzken, Valie Export and Rosemarie Trockel and works featured at the Biennale of Venice 2015 such as Monica Bonvicini and Allora & Calzadilla.
But there’s more. During summer, Museion also stands out for its “Design is a state of mind” exhibition by Martino Gamper, a well-known local designer who lives and works in London. Gamper curates this exhibition, running between 6 June and 13 September, which shines the spotlight on the history of objects used in design and their impact on our day to day life, with a vast selection of scaffolding systems from the early 30s to our days.
Hubert Kostner will be holding ‘Konezeptmontage’ between 6th June and 30rd August. A new installation inspired by the snowy cliffs of the South Tyrolean mountains. In the meantime, the Museion Passage on the ground floor of the museum will present sketches and pictures of the “Val d’Ega platform”, the latest project by South Tyrolean artist Walter Pichler (6 June / 13 September, free entry)
Museion offers some events for its smaller guests: the “SummerLab”, between 13 and 17 and 20 and 24 July, dedicated to kids between 11 and 14 who, working side by side with established artists, can discover a personal project together.
The “Art weeks” from end of July to end of August are dedicated to children between the ages of 6 and 10, and are inspired by works of art to develop themes and expressive forms (booking required. Please book by phoning +39 0471 223435).
