Spring in Bolzano: wine, flower and art for a new start

Bolzano, the gateway to the Dolomites, is a colorful place in spring!

Longer days, the desire for fresh air, walks through the scents of plants, along a stream or among blossoming orchards are the ingredients of spring in Bolzano. A perfect season to get on your bike. What could be better than pedaling along apple orchards in bloom! The city of Bolzano offers a rich calendar of events and initiatives that invite you to spend your days in the city. Many opportunities to enjoy the light and at the same time suggestive atmosphere of spring.

Spring in Bolzano is enriched by the new event Bolzano In Fiore Arte/Kunstgarten Bozen (23.4-2.5.2021). The old town center and the city come alive with eleven contemporary art installations, impressive floral decorations and a top-class programme of dance, music and theatre.  The festival will conclude on 30 April with the traditional Flower Festival in Piazza Walther, now in its 130th year. The Bolzano Wine Exhibition remains the city's most important food and wine event. Spring in Bolzano ends with the events in June, in particular Castelronda, a day dedicated to discovering the castles of Bolzano and its surroundings.

Bolzano Bozen Wine Tasting

May 15th 2021

Traditionally, the Bolzano Bozen Wine Tasting takes place in March in the fascinating ambience of Castle Mareccio Maretsch. However, for the 2021 edition, a new formula for this event is being worked on: an elegant outdoor wine tasting, directly on Walther Square.

On Saturday, May 15, 2021 you can enjoy and experience some of the best South Tyrolean wines. Walther Square will provide the stylish backdrop for a wine tasting in a casual yet elegant atmosphere. Guests take their seats at set tables where the selected wines from the wineries of Bolzano and South Tyrol are served.

In the context of this "wine tasting restart" there will also be some special master class tastings together with experts.

However, already one week before, many things in Bolzano revolve around the topic of wine: culinary taste experiences in the restaurants of Bolzano, thematic guided tours through the city and on the discovery of the wine-growing areas in Bolzano, as well as conversations with winemakers.

The cooperation with the Sommelier Association, the producers, the St. Magdalener Schutzkonsortium and other important wine actors stand for the quality of the event.

Experience the Middle Ages with all your senses. The castle festival lends a fairytale feel to Bolzano's summer.

The castle landscape around Bolzano invites you to stroll around and discover its treasures. Even more so on the occasion of Castelronda, when the most beautiful castles in and around Bolzano open their doors to visitors and reveal all their secrets in courtyards, dungeons and towers... Bolzano and Appiano/Eppan are the first locations involved in the initiative, with 6 castles and ruins to visit, 6 programmes and 6 unique experiences to live a dive into the past.

Runkelstein Castle, the ruins of Rafenstein Castle just above Bozen, Eppan Castle, Boymont Castle and Trostburg Castle are brought back to life by historical re-enactments with ladies and knights. Guided tours and excursions are also on the programme.
