Advent Magic in Bolzano-Bozen

During Advent, Bolzano-Bozen takes on a unique atmosphere: the magic of Christmas can be felt everywhere, in the squares and streets of the city centre, as well as in the festively illuminated neighbourhoods. The Christmas Market is the beating heart of the city centre throughout the Advent season.
To fully enjoy this experience, the Bolzano-Bozen Tourist Board, in cooperation with participating hotels, offers a package for a three-night stay for two people including breakfast, free participation in one of the guided tours included in the weekly programme, a Christmas Market souvenir mug and free admission to the Mercantile Museum and Runkelstein Castle. Guests will also find a welcome gift in their room: a taste of Bolzano-Bozen’s traditional Christmas biscuits.

“Trenatale & Advent” on the Renon-Ritten

27 November – 24 December

Just a few minutes by cable car from the city centre*, Advent is celebrated authentically on the Renon plateau, with its original Christmas market and the Renon Trenatale Christmas Train. The distinctive stalls shaped like historic train carriages fill the air with the aromas of sweet bread, mulled wine, soups and traditional cakes, while handmade local products can be found everywhere.

During this period, hotels and holiday apartment providers offer packages dedicated to Christmas traditions. The “Trenatale & Advent” holiday package, available from 27 November to 24 December, includes three nights and the convenient RittenCard, a guest card that provides free use of regional public transport throughout South Tyrol, making it easy to visit the Christmas markets of Bolzano-Bozen, Merano, Bressanone and other towns.

From the plateau, visitors can enjoy incredible views of the Dolomites, take short excursions to the famous Earth Pyramids and experience the thrill of travelling on the Renon Railway, the historic mountain railway. Guests staying on the plateau can look forward to plenty of other surprises.

*Renon Cable Car: every four minutes, a cabin leaves the station in the city centre and takes you comfortably up to the plateau in just 12 minutes.
