Christmas on the Slopes – just minutes from the city

For those who want to combine the Christmas Market with skiing, three major ski areas are just minutes from Bolzano: Obereggen, Reinswald in Sarentino, and Corno del Renon – Rittner Horn.

Obereggen

Obereggen (20 minutes from Bolzano) is part of the Latemar Dolomites ski resort and will be the first in the international ski carousel to open. On Friday, November 28th at 8:30 am, the slopes will welcome the first skiers, both during the day and at night (Tuesdays and Fridays, 7–10 pm). From Saturday, November 29th, all lifts will be open, including the Trentino areas of Pampeago and Predazzo. New this season: the Latemar 10-seat cable car, replacing the historic Latemar chairlift, and the renovated Absam Stube restaurant at 1,732 m. A special junior promotion is confirmed: 30% discount on adult ski passes for those under 18.

Reinswald

Reinswald can be reached in about 20 minutes from Bolzano, heading into Val Sarentino. After the village of Sarentino, the road leads to Reinswald, just 15 minutes further – also easily accessible by public transport. The ski area opens on December 5th, offering perfectly groomed slopes, breathtaking views, and varied descents for all levels. Highlights include the 5.2 km toboggan run and the unforgettable sunrise ski tour at 2,460 m on December 29th or January 4th (and later dates: Feb 20 – Mar 29), followed by a hearty breakfast in the mountain huts.

Corno del Renon-Rittner Horn

Corno del Renon-Rittner Horn is a family-friendly ski area with wide slopes ideal for those who see skiing as fun rather than a challenge. It’s also perfect for cross-country skiing and winter hikes. The winter program of the Corno del Renon cableways begins on December 13th, offering not just skiing, but snowshoe hikes, cooking workshops, and family events. Ski courses (group or private) are available, and there’s also a children’s miniclub on the slopes – a playful and safe introduction to skiing and snowboarding.
