Discover Bolzano with your dog

From a natural perspective, South Tyrol is an ideal destination for a holiday with our inseparable four-legged companions. There are countless opportunities for outdoor enjoyment, starting with the meadows along the Talvera River, as well as the walking paths surrounding the Bolzano basin. Among these are the trails of Sant’Osvaldo, which begin just a few dozen meters from the end of the Talvera promenade, and those of the Guncina, which climb from the Gries district up toward the San Genesio plateau. Along the Talvera itself, there are small beaches bordered by rocks and several fenced dog areas, also found in other parts of the city, equipped with waste bag dispensers.

Beautiful excursions can also be enjoyed through the lush forests and lakes of the Ritten-Renon plateau or the Colle-Kholern area, where dogs can roam freely, sniff, and run in a rich natural environment. These destinations are easily accessible via public transport and cable cars that lead directly to the plateaus. On local trains, cable cars, and other public transport, small and medium-sized dogs travel free of charge, while larger dogs require a ticket. However, by purchasing the dedicated “Alto Adige Mobilcard” for animals (junior fare), discounted rates are available. On public transport, dogs must be kept on a leash, and owners are required to carry a muzzle.

Beyond its natural offerings, Bolzano is also a pet-friendly destination in terms of accommodation. At Parkhotel Laurin, four-legged guests are welcomed with a bowl, a bed, and a small gift upon arrival in the room. A daily supplement applies, and up to two dogs per room are allowed, with a maximum weight of 20 kg each.

At hotel Falkensteiner Hotel Bozen Waltherpark, special care is also given to pets, with a welcome package (including treats), walking route suggestions, a dog blanket, towel, food and water bowls, as well as grooming and dog-walking services available upon request at reception.

The pet-friendly experience at Palais Hörtenberg includes in-room amenities, dedicated services, and tailored assistance. Every detail is designed to ensure comfort, safety, and well-being without compromising the overall guest experience. Similarly, at Castel Hörtenberg, pets are welcomed with care and attention through dedicated services and thoughtful details that balance tranquility, elegance, and respect for shared spaces.

At the Stadt Hotel Città, services range from in-room amenities to personalized meal options and on-request assistance, all contributing to a unique and memorable stay in the heart of Bolzano. Finally, at Four Points by Sheraton, pets are allowed in rooms (with a supplement) and in public areas, except for restaurants, and are welcomed with a dedicated kit upon arrival.
