Val d’Ega-Eggental: between Ski Runs and Snowy Trails
At Carezza Dolomites and Latemar Dolomites, skiing goes hand in hand with the pleasure of walking at the foot of the Rosengarten-Catinaccio and Latemar mountains. In Val d’Ega-Eggental, just a few kilometres from Bolzano Bozen, winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers can alternate exhilarating turns on the slopes with peaceful moments spent enjoying the surrounding landscape.
In Obereggen, more experienced skiers can take on the Latemar Sixpack, a series of six challenging runs designed to test both technique and stamina. But winter is also about taking a break, looking up at the peaks, and choosing the next descent at your own pace. At the foot of the Rosengarten, Carezza Dolomites offers 40 kilometres of ski slopes, wide-open mountain views, and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
Val d’Ega’s winter hiking trails wind through forests and clearings, revealing beautiful views of the snow-covered mountains. Along the way, mountain huts and places to eat offer opportunities to discover local cuisine, including Messnerjoch mountain hut at the foot of the Rosengarten and Costa mountain hut, surrounded by snowy woodland with views of Latemar. Reaching your destination brings the simple pleasures of winter: a warm meal, a terrace overlooking the mountains and the satisfaction of having arrived on foot.
The area around Lake Carezza also invites visitors to explore the landscape in its winter attire, while the trails around Nova Ponente (Deutschnofen) offer further opportunities to spend time outdoors and try cross-country skiing. For those seeking a moment of mindfulness, Mindful.Latemar Winter Edition offers a guided experience of mindfulness and meditation in Obereggen’s snow-covered landscape. An invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself and nature.
