The Long Night aims to make the treasures of the churches (spiritual, social, musical, cultural, artistic, creative) visible and accessible even to people far from the Church; it allows for encounters and contacts and offers a space to get to know the communities, places, and people of different denominations.
Parishes, associations, institutions, and communities throughout the Diocese are invited to participate in the initiative, which involves the whole of South Tyrol, and to offer a program of events.
A project group of the Diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone, composed of the Pastoral Office and the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Jugenddienste", coordinates the Long Night of the Churches; numerous local "Jugenddienste" and various associations support the initiative. The graphic templates for banners and posters, the website with the individual local offers, and the motto, which changes every year, are provided by the Long Night of the Churches in Austria. This means that the South Tyrolean event is also visually an integral part of this international Christian initiative. This year, the motto "CUORagGio" was chosen; it is a wordplay that combines heart and courage: heart – courage – acting with heart and courage. "CUORagGio" conveys an active and optimistic vision – not a passive request, but an invitation to act together.
